Welcome to the Doormen Forums! Here's a quick rundown of the plot!
"Imagine a world wherein three unique civilizations lie undisturbed at their own corners of the globe. Each society exists in its own time with its own culture and each is at a different level of technological development. The first, Nuavia, is an entirely aquatic culture, and easily the most technologically advanced of the three. They live in the ocean, deep underneath the surface, in an almost Atlantian setting. Their skills are mostly in engineering, and they have learned to sustain life underwater and thrive off of their surroundings quite well.
Next is Sisiphee, a land with no united culture at all, consisting of a great barren plateau several thousand feet high, covered in rock and gigantic mushrooms that shade from the angry sun. There live many tribes, all of the hunter-gatherer persuasion, which take great pride in their skills as warriors. The tribes often war with one another as sport, with honor at the very foremost of their values.
And then Endsburgh, the product of several small Victorian-style cities coming together to form one large republic. A society ruled by class and fashion, where art is possibly the most valuable idea to be had. Industry is downplayed here, where the aristocracy sees it as an end to their glorious reign and the commonfolk are more than willing to comply with their demands.
Each of these lands knows not of the others, and is taught by their leaders to never venture out of their own territory. But those who are free spirits, or perhaps just unlucky, are bound to find the Doormen. The Doormen go by many different names for each culture, regarded as wise shamans by the Sisipheeans, as ambassadors from a large and powerful country by the Nuavites, and rumored to be the private police of a wealthy noble by the Endsburghians. The Doormen are, in reality, the keepers of the borders between these lands. Many years ago, a man from Endsburgh stumbled upon a cave far into the country beyond his homeland. There he found a message inscribed in stone, foretelling a great cataclysm should the three nations ever meet one another. This man recruited a group of others who shared his views on the situation, called the Janai, and they ventured to the three corners of the world to locate the Keys, the Key of Water, the Key of Ink, and the Key of Blood. It was told that without these Keys, artifacts of unexplained power, the peoples inhabiting these lands would find contentment in their progress and would never seek expansion again. As for the stragglers they discovered, they decided to simply recruit them into their own society, creating a large organization that served to address the needs of the different nations so as to keep them satisfied and from seeking expansion.
But at the time of this story, another group has appeared. Strange, silent people adorned in purple robes have been sighted in areas where strange shadow creatures are reported to have caused problems. Some cause fires or destruction, some assault and murder others, and some have begun leading citizens from their homes to the great beyond. The great and terrible beyond."
You may now go and create a character! Each user may make 5 characters, 4 non-Doormen characters and 1 Doorman. Please note that this does not actually indicate whether or not they are affiliated with the Doormen- Non-Doormen can even be Doormen themselves! But Doormen are your main characters, and the only ones that you may begin a plot with. Non-Doormen may only join the plots of others. And non-Doormen cannot leave their specific territory.
Anyway, happy roleplaying! Have fun out there!
